Melasti

Melasti or in India known as Yatra or Nagasankirtana, is one of ceremony series before Nyepi day (day of silence), the ceremony process by carrying jempana (wooden thrones) on the devotees shoulder to the sea or spring. On each jempana was seated the sacred Pralingga (a media to worship God or ancestors).
Melasti has a purpose to sanctifies that is swept away 'malaning bumi' ( impurity of microcosmos and macrocosmos ) to the sea and 'angamet sarining bhuana' ( took the quintessence of earth ) in the shape of 'amerta' from the sea. 
"Like moon shadow in a bowl of water, only in a pure holy water a moon shadow can be found"
